Chase Bank suffers online banking outage

HOUSTON The site went down Monday night and was down all day Tuesday. A Chase spokesman said service was restored early Wednesday, but later Wednesday morning, the site again carried a message saying service was unavailable.

The bank is not saying what caused the problem, but for consumers, online banking is now a huge part of the way they pay bills.

Some auto-paid bills did not get paid during the outage and that could result in late fees, but customers who went by their branch offices say they are being told the bank will work with customers to take care of those charges.

"He told us it had been out for a few days and it wasn't working and was down, but that today, it was back up," Chase customer Gloria Rosenkrantz said.

This has been a big problem for a lot of people. Chase bank has more than 16 million customers who bank online.
