Deputy shoots suspect during foot chase

HOUSTON Around 12:45pm, an off-duty Memorial Villages officer spotted a vehicle on Highway 290 believed to have been involved in a robbery that took place Thursday. The officer flagged down a Harris County Sheriff's deputy, who pulled the vehicle over at Highway 290 and Barker Cypress.

Two suspects were taken into custody, but a third man fled the scene on foot, running through a residential area. He was believed to be armed.

At some point the deputy feared for his life and shot the suspect, who taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital via Life Flight. He is expected to survive his injuries.

The deputy was unhurt.

Authorities believe the men may be responsible for a number of robberies in the area.
