Woman found fatally shot in Wal-Mart parking lot

HOUSTON Joan Ogunleye, 41, of Houston, was found fatally shot inside a car outside the Wal-Mart neighborhood market on Beechnut near South Kirkwood. Police were originally called out around midnight on what appeared to be a medical emergency. That's when they discovered the woman shot in the head as she sat in the driver's seat.

This morning, investigators were able to watch surveillance video from the time they believe the shooting happened. So far, they say they see one suspect vehicle and the possibility of more than one person in and out of Ogunleye's car.

"We've reviewed some surveillance footage from the Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart has been very helpful with this," said Sgt. J.J. Wilson with HPD homicide. "Some of the footage is grainy and a little hard to see. We have ways to enhance that video and take a better look at it."

They say they have more than one angle of surveillance video to look at.

Investigators say drugs were found but they still aren't sure exactly what led to the shooting or who the suspects are.

They're still looking for witnesses. If you were at the Wal-Mart between 10:15pm and 11:15pm Thursday, police want to talk to you. Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.

While police say they don't believe this was a random crime, there are no known suspects or motive at this time.
