Due to a fire that destroyed 10,000 voting machines, the Harris County clerk is urging people to prepare now for the upcoming elections. Starting this Friday, you can apply for a ballot by mail. The county plans to buy new voting machines for the November election, but paper ballots will be available at every polling location as a backup.

Arson investigators are still trying to determine what caused last Friday's multi-alarm fire at a warehouse in north Houston.
