Fundraisers held for families of Pearland Little Leaguers

PEARLAND, TX Over the weekend, they appealed to the local community for help in getting their families to Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The team tried to raise $100,000.

Texas grocer H-E-B donated $20,000. Any remaining money came in the form of dinners and a silent auction. The Little League sluggers are still trying to get used to all the fame.

"It's crazy because I'm not used to it at all," said Pearland Little League All-Star Hunter Smith. "It's our first year ever doing this."

We haven't gotten a total figure on just how much was raised.

By the way, Pearland's first game in the Little League World Series is this Friday. They'll wear the jerseys of the southwest Regional champion and take on the champions of the Midwest Region.

If you want to donate to their trip, here's the link at which you can do so.
