Hit-and-run suspect leads police on chase

HOUSTON Houston police were called to a minor accident at I-10 and Washington. A gold Taurus had bumped another vehicle then fled. Police and sheriff's deputies gave chase.

The driver of the car, who appeared to be the only occupant, refused to pull over, and continued westbound on the Katy freeway. The chase was initially going at highway speeds, but towards the end of the chase, the suspect slowed down to 30 miles an hour.

The suspect and one of the law enforcement cruisers got into a minor collision around Beltway 8. There were no injuries.

The vehicle finally pulled over near Eldridge Parkway shortly after 1pm and the suspect was taken into custody.
