Residents voice concerns about neighboring drilling rig

Some northeast Houston residents are taking their beef against a natural gas drilling rig to Harris County Commissioners Court. They don't want the rig in their neighborhood. Several homeowners have signed up to speak at commissioners court and their complaint isn't new. The drilling began in June in the Summerwood subdivision and the people who live nearby think it's the beginning of many problems to come.

Those residents are complaining that they moved into the subdivision thinking it was going to be nice and peaceful, but what they got instead was a neighborhood that includes natural gas drilling rigs.

Neighbors have complained about air quality and the smells there, and about their health after being so close to the rig. But in reality, if this rig has all of its permits, there is very little homeowners can do about it.

Residents are hoping the members of the commissioners court will listen to their complaints and do something about it. But for now, those rigs and the homeowners must live side by side.
