High-ranking Texas Mexican Mafia members get life
SAN ANTONIO, TX
A federal jury in San Antonio returned guilty verdicts in May on
conspiracy counts against former Texas Mexican Mafia general
Jacinto Navajar (na-va-HAHR') and two of his lieutenants.
Federal agents arrested 34 members of the gang in 2008, but
these three were the only ones who went to trial. The other members
pleaded guilty.
Prosecutors attributed six murders to Jose "Bam Bam" Martinez
and two to Mike Garcia, the other two defendants who received life
sentences Wednesday from U.S. District Judge Orlando Garcia.
Federal prosecutors say they were hit men who killed others for
cooperating with police or undermining the gang.
