A convicted killer who scalped his victim while he was high on drugs will spend the rest of his life in prison. Mark Boyd pleaded guilty to murder on Monday. In October 2008, Boyd was smoking marijuana that had been soaked in embalming fluid, a drug known as 'sherm.' While he was high, Boyd, 37, stabbed to death an acquaintance, Wilbur Ake.

Investigators said Boyd scalped and mutilated Ake's body in his north Harris County apartment complex.
