Harris County sheriff's deputies are trying to figure out why a driver lost control early this morning. Authorities say a Ford Explorer was headed north on the Eastex Freeway near Little York when the driver lost control around 3:30am. The vehicle went onto a grassy shoulder then hit a metal guard rail. The SUV flipped then smashed into a metal sign pole, killing the driver and his female passenger.

The victims haven't been identified. An investigation is underway.
