Karan was arrested and charged with enticing a child, a third degree felony. He is being held on $150,000 bond. Authorities are waiting to see if he will waive extradition to be transported back to Fort Bend County. Karan has no prior criminal record.
According to Fort Bend County Chief Deputy Craig Brady, Rehfield and Karan are believed to have had a prior relationship dating back to 2009.
"I don't know how they met, but there were allegations of sexual conduct between the two in 2009 from the juvenile's mother," Brady said.
This case will be referred to the District Attorney's office.
Brady said, "There's potential for numerous charges. We're still investigating."
Rehfield had last been seen Monday night in her Fort Bend County home. It's believed she met Karan on an Internet gaming site. It's believed the pair was still traveling to an unknown destination when they were stopped by authorities.
