Mom of abandoned baby reportedly found

FT. BEND COUNTY, TX It was in the early morning hours of June 30 that residents of the Preserve at Colony Lakes apartment complex reported finding the baby after someone had knocked on their door. Investigators say the baby's father saw photos of the abandoned baby girl on the news, contacted investigators and led them to the child's mother, identified as Marjorie Johnson, 22.

Authorities say Johnson kept her pregnancy a secret to everyone but the child's father, with whom she has two other children. They say she's cooperating with investigators The case will now be forwarded to the Ft. Bend County District Attorney's Office for possible charges.

Since this baby was not abandoned within the guidelines of the Baby Moses Law, deputies say the birth mother could face a felony child abandonment charge.

Last week, a judge awarded Child Protective Services emergency custody of the baby girl.
