Homeless man sought in hotel manager's fatal stabbing

HOUSTON Larry Earl Britt II, 25, is charged with murder in the stabbing death of James Murrell, 38, of Houston.

Police say an employee of the Athens Hotel found Murrell, the manager of the hotel, deceased in one of the rooms. Officers responded to the location to find Murrell had suffered multiple stab wounds. Evidence from the scene determined a struggle had occurred in the room and at least one other person was present when Murrell was killed. A witness stated he saw an unknown male suspect yell up at a second floor window of the hotel, throw a brick through the window and then run southbound on Caroline Street.

Britt is homeless and is known to sometimes stay in homeless shelters in or near downtown Houston. He is described as a black male, with a brown complexion and is clean shaven. Britt is about 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing between 160 and 170 pounds and was last seen wearing a white sleeveless shirt, long brown shorts and a backpack.
