Officers fatally shoot dogs after attack

HOUSTON Around 1:45pm Friday, Houston police say three pitbulls got out of the backyard of a home on Gilpin near Theta. The dogs escaped through a hole in fhe fence.

Police say the dogs went down about four houses where they attacked and bit a man. He jumped into a pickup truck to get away and police were called.

Officers arrived and shot the three pitbulls. Two died and one ran off. The dead dogs were a three-year-old female and a two-year-old male. The surviving dog, an eight-month-old male, had to be tranquilized before being taken to a vet.

The extent of the man's injuries are unknown. He went to Southeast Memorial Hospital for treatment.
