Lucky accident nets scientists good glue

CORVALLIS, OR They've developed on a new form of environmentally friendly glue, thanks to a lucky accident. One professor (Kaichang Li) says the new glue can be used on everything from tape to sticky notes. He says the adhesive is derived from vegetable oil and doesn't use any petroleum-based chemicals.

The OSU researchers won't go into detail about their new formula or how it was accidentally discovered. A local paper (Register-Guard) reports the university has applied for a patent and is in talks with manufacturers.
