Authorities seek info in man's 2007 murder

The severely burned body of Javier Ortiz, Jr., 35, was discovered in the driver's seat of a vehicle that caught fire three years ago.

Authorities are seeking the public's assistance with any information on the murder of a man three years ago in northwest Houston. On July 8, 2007 around 3:00am, an HPD officer saw a vehicle engulfed in flames in a parking lot located at 10660 Hammerly. He immediately called the Houston Fire Department.

Once the fire was out, the severely burned body of Javier Ortiz, Jr., 35, was discovered in the driver's seat of the car. Ortiz was pronounced dead at the scene.
