Two suspected copper thieves were caught red-handed outside an old grocery store in east Harris County. Security guards spotted a man and woman tearing up wires on the roof of the empty store on Uvalde near Holly Park. Deputies used a ladder to climb on the roof and catch the woman, but the man managed to hide.

A K-9 unit eventually found the man an hour later and chased him to a nearby school where he was arrested.

During the search, a Deputy Luce was injured when a board gave way and he fell off the roof of the two-story building. He was conscious when he was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital by ambulance. He has since been released.
