Search underway for missing boater in Lake Conroe

CONROE, TX It happened on the northwest corner of the lake near Bentwater Drive and Bentwater Island. Deputies say a group of 28 people were on a party barge for several hours. The boat was anchored near Bentwater Marina just after 11pm when Augusta Newmeyer went for a swim. Some of the other guests told the boat operator that thee 23-year-old had jumped into the water. He called authorities.

Divers and a helicopter helped search last night, but stopped when they couldn't find her.

They resumed efforts at first light today.
