DPS employee arrested for allegedly taking bribes

HOUSTON Gracie Gutierrez, 27, is accused of providing Texas driver's licenses to people who are undocumented and have not taken written or driving exams in exchange for cash. She worked as an administrative driver's license technician at a DPS driver's license office.

Her co-defendant, Saul Ramirez, 20, is also charged with bribery. Ramirez was arrested while trying to sell a driver's license to an undercover officer. Ramirez is not a DPS employee, but an acquaintance of Gutierrez.

Gutierrez was arrested Tuesday and is is charged with bribery. She is being held in Harris County Jail on $50,000 bond. Ramirez is jailed on $35,000 bond.

If convicted, Gutierrez could face up to 20 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.
