Police probe woman's drowning

HOUSTON It happened at a residence in the 6200 block of Briar Seasons near Winter Briar. Houston police arrived just after 7pm. They say CPR was in progress on 22-year-old Kendra Shenise Hines, but it was too late. Investigators say she was dead by the time they got there.

Police say relatives who went to check on Hines when they saw her 3-year-old child wandering in a gated area outside the home on Monday. When they went inside, they found Hines' body in the bathtub. Her child was not hurt.

Homicide detectives took witnesses one by one into the home Monday night, trying to determine whether or not this drowning was an accident. Officers also say there weren't any forced signs of entry.

Family and friends gathered outside the home Monday night and were seemingly upset.

Authorities say there does not appear to be any obvious sign of trauma on Hines' body. An autopsy is pending.
