George P. Mitchell receives prestigious award
HOUSTON
"They gave me the award. In other words, it helped I did so much in uncovering the method of making it work," said Mitchell.
He showed us the lifetime achievement award the Gas Technology Institute gave him for pioneering hydraulic fracturing and drilling technologies.
Mitchell's work led to the discovery of the Barnett shale well in north Texas. It is the largest onshore natural gas field in the US, containing an estimated 26 trillion cubic feet of natural gas.
