A neighbor looking out for a neighbor helped police catch up to a burglary suspect in the act Monday morning. The homeowner gave Eyewitness News a look inside at the mess the suspected burglar left behind. A neighbor saw the suspect going in and out of the home on Count near Tremont in northeast Houston and called police. She also called the homeowner who got home in time to see police making the arrest.

Michael Thompson, the homeowner, says the suspect had kicked in his door, and was trying to steal rims inside his bedroom.

"I am so glad that he didn't get hurt, I didn't have to hurt him, and he's off the street before he hurts somebody," Thompson said. "If I would have been home, I'm a Vietnam veteran and the outcome would have been a lot different."

Neighbors say they believe the same man is responsible for more break-ins in the neighborhood.
