Sacramento standoff stretches into third day

SACRAMENTO, CA The truck was hit, but no one was hurt.

Anthony Alvarez has told his mother by cell phone that he's wounded in the head and arm, but police are more concerned about the baby. They fear the longer the standoff goes, the greater the threat to the child.

An officer who got a glimpse through a window says he saw Alvarez carrying the baby, and the child seems fine. The baby is the son of the suspect's cousin.

Alvarez, who is 25, is said to have a bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, and is believed to be off his medication.
