Porn suspect appears in court

HOUSTON Erik Whitmire, 38, is charged with two counts of child pornography. He is accused of entering the St. Augustine Catholic School and using the school computers to view pornography.

School officials said the intruder initially wasn't caught on the school's security system, because he allegedly disabled the surveillance. Additional video cameras were set up, and Whitmire was arrested at the scene.

During a court appearance Tuesday morning, Judge Jim Wallace lowered Whitmire's bond to $5,000 on each count and ordered him to wear an ankle monitor.

A letter was sent to parents of students at St. Augustine Catholic School last week explaining the situation. According to the letter no students had access to the child pornography and police assured the principal no students were on the child pornography files.
