Guard charged with murder appears in court

HOUSTON Terry Beacom, 22, appeared in court on Friday. We've also learned that Beacom has hired high-profile defense attorney George Parnham.

Beacom and another security guard from Top Gun Security were checking out a minor traffic accident at the Cullen Park Apartments on Monday Night. Everette Crockett, 20, had been accused of causing that crash. Beacom told officers that Crockett tried to run him over, so he shot him in fear of his safety.

However, police say Beacom's story doesn't add up. They say the bullet holes in the car showed that Crockett was driving away from Beacom. The security guard was arrested and charged with murder on Thursday. Crockett's mother is glad to hear of the arrest, but knows it only lessens some of her pain.

"It's what I wanted, but not good 'cause it won't bring my son back," said Angela Crockett.

She plans to file a lawsuit.

Beacom has been suspended without pay, pending the outcome of the investigation. His bond is set at $50,000.
