A Houston police officer who died in a car crash was laid to rest today. The funeral of 30-year-old Eydelmen Mani was held at Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in north Houston. Colleagues from HPD's north patrol division joined Mani's family to mourn a man who left behind a wife and a three-year-old son.

"While he met a very tragic death, he was doing what he loved to do. And that was serving the public and serving his fellow man," said a fellow officer.

Mani was on his way to a chase when he crashed his patrol car into a guardrail on the North Freeway Tuesday night. Investigators say the seven-year veteran was not wearing his seat belt.
