Two suspects arrested after police chase, shootout

Houston police were involved in a shooting overnight in southwest Houston. It started with a police chase that ended in the 5500 block of Gasmer near South Post Oak. Police say it started on Bellaire at Dunlap when officers spotted a car suspected to be involved in a carjacking attempt. They started chasing and the two men inside then started firing shots at the officers.

Eventually, the suspects crashed into a ditch on Gasmer after blowing out a tire. Police say the pair threw a rifle and a pistol into a field, then gave themselves up. The two weapons were recovered.

No officers were hurt.

Police say charges of aggravated assault on a peace officer are pending against one of the suspects, Emmanuel Delgadillo, 18. He has prior aggravated assault with deadly weapon charge, drug charges, and resisting arrest conviction. Police have not yet released the name of the second suspect arrested.
