Officer, carjacking suspect injured in accident

HOUSTON Around 11pm, a male carjacked a female on OST at Scott. He was spotted in the stolen Trailblazer and HPD chased him for a short time, but called it off due to rain.

Just after midnight, the suspect was traveling southbound on Goforth and ran the stop sign at Yellowstone where an HPD unit that was going westbound T-boned him. The Trailblazer then crashed through an electrical pole, knocking power out to two homes, and slammed into a tree.

The officer was treated and released from Ben Taub Hospital for a minor injury to his left arm. The suspect, Christopher Joseph Jones, 24, was also taken to Ben Taub to be checked out with a minor injury.

Jones is facing aggravated robbery charge. He has prior theft and drug possession convictions.
