Houston firefighters were called to a pair of house fires overnight on opposite sides of town. The first broke out around 11:30pm at a home in the Kingwood area. Firefighters found flames coming out of the attic but managed to get it under control in about 20 minutes. The residents made it out safely. There is no word on what started the fire.

Just 15 minutes later, another fire broke out in southwest Houston at a home off Villa Lea and Portal. Crews found flames coming from an attached garage and spreading to the home.

Firefighters knocked down the flames in about 30 minutes. Everyone inside also made it out safely but arson teams are looking into this one.
