Free Stuff Friday - Mother's Day edition

HOUSTON We have a lot of great things today for the entire family. For the kids: a free crayon event with a free gift; and for the sports fan, a museum with some treasured items. But first, in honor of mom, we've got a couple of freebies for her.

Come celebrate moms at Pottery Barn Kids. They can make colorful tissue paper flowers for mom. You can stop by Saturday or on Mother's Day from 2pm until 4pm. The deal is good while supplies last. In addition, Pottery Barn Kids has story time every Tuesday at 11am. Pottery Barn Kids is located in the Highland Village Shopping Center at 3974 Westheimer Road.

After you are done making your crafts, head next door to Tasti D Lite. The frozen dessert shop wants to celebrate Mother's Day. The company is treating moms to a free small cup or cone this Sunday only. Moms can choose from over 100 flavors in Tasti's signature soft serve, dairy-based frozen dessert. There are two Tasti D Lite locations: one located in the Highland Village Shopping Center and the other in the Houston Galleria.

If you need a last minute Mother's Day gift, you can get one for free. Walgreens has a free 8x10 photo collage. Just log onto Walgreens.com and head over to the photo section, then choose gifts to start creating your collage. When you check out, use the coupon code: goodthoughts. You can pick up your free 8x10 on any day, but you have to order it before the end of the day Saturday.

Earlier this week on Stretch Your Dollar, we talked about the importance of spring cleaning for your computer. The staff at Top Tech Experts has a free disc tuneup kit that you can pick up. The kit includes anti-virus software and a program cleaner. The computer shop is located on 1821 Bingle Road in northwest Houston.

Here are some things to do around town this weekend: For the kids, head over to your local Toys R Us Crayola Event this Saturday. Crayola Crayons is hosting a free event Saturday from 11am to 1pm. Enjoy free gifts and activities.

For the guys, check out the newly re-opened History of Baseball and rare sports collectibles on display at the Finger Furniture store on Cullen. There are hundreds of pieces on display including Nolan Ryan's jersey, Earl Campbell's college jersey and old photos of baseball greats like Babe Ruth and Mickey Mantle. The museum is free and open to the public Monday through Saturday from 10am to 8pm and Sunday from 12pm to 6pm.
