Robbery suspect shot by Dallas police

DALLAS, TX The suspect, who was not identified, was taken to a hospital Monday, about 40 minutes after he allegedly robbed a woman at a bus stop.

Police say a plainclothes officer in an unmarked vehicle located the suspect's vehicle and called for uniformed officers to make the arrest. When they approached the man, police say he pointed a handgun at one of them. The officer opened fire, striking the suspect, who then fled.

He was arrested nearby and taken to the hospital. There was no word on his condition.

Dallas police spokesman Lt. Andrew Harvey praised a witness who called 911 and gave an accurate description of the suspect and his vehicle.
