Sex offender sought for failing to register

HOUSTON In January 2002, Sylvester Faines, 49, was convicted of indecency with a 6-year-old girl by contact and sentenced to prison. As a result of his conviction, he is required to register as a sex offender. He last registered with the Houston Police Department in November 2009 with an address near the 8400 block of Colonial Lane. Officers conducted a compliance check on that address and discovered the suspect had moved from that location on January 18, 2010.

The law requires him to notify the Houston Police Department within 7 days of moving. As of January 25, 2010 Faines had not registered a new address with the Houston Police Department or any other law enforcement agency. Charges were filed on April 22 and a warrant issued for his arrest.

Faines is a black male. He is 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighs 225 pounds.
