Parker named one of Time's 100 Most Influential People

HOUSTON Mayor Annise Parker made Time magazine's annual list of the 100 Most Influential People. She is the first openly gay mayor of a major U.S. city.

Most recently, Parker has been trying to close a $100 million budget shortfall for the city of Houston. She told Time magazine, "I feel like a mom planning a family budget. We're going to make sure we still have plenty of healthy vegetables, but we might have to cut back on dessert for a while."
