HPD station aims to be community hub

HOUSTON The police station has state of the art crime fighting technology. The facility will house 159 officers, two narcotics squads and a first responder team. Police Chief Charles McClelland wants citizens to view it as a hub for the community.

He said, "It allows us to get the police officers that serve your neighborhood closer to you. This should be a hub of community activity for you to hold community meetings and carry on community activities here."

The station also comes equipped with gear and supplies that will allow it to provide community services and aid during disasters such as hurricanes.
