Fatal accident shuts down Highway 288 southbound

A fatal accident involving a pedestrian had Highway 288 shut down Monday, as police gathered details about the wreck It happened around 11am near Almeda-Genoa. Houston police tell us witnesses say the now-deceased man had been jumping in and out of traffic prior to being struck by a pickup truck. The victim died on the scene. Right now, we don't know why the victim was out of his vehicle, which was apparently parked on the shoulder.

The driver of the truck that struck the pedestrian remains on the scene and has agreed to a blood alcohol test. Police say at this point, it just looks like a tragic accident.
