Man fatally shot inside his SW Houston home

HOUSTON Authorities were called out to a shooting at a home on Cook Road near Sharpview just before 9pm. The victim was shot once in the chest and was then taken to the hospital, where he later died.

The victim arrived at his residence after work and, while walking to the front door, he was confronted and shot by an unknown suspect, police say. Nothing appeared to have been taken from the home.

The victim's wife and children were at home at the time of the shooting. They were not hurt.

Witnesses say they saw a young Hispanic man fleeing the scene. A police helicopter and K-9 units were used to search for the suspect, but he got away.
