HISD officer suffers broken leg in wreck

HOUSTON It happened near West Tidwell and Hamilton. According to HISD police, the officer was responding to a call, and another vehicle pulled in front of the cruiser. The officer tried to avoid the vehicle, hit a curb, went over a median and hit a gas line before ending up next to a building.

When rescue crews arrived, the officer was already overcome by fumes, say authorities, but revived. He's undergoing surgeries for three different possible leg fractures.
