Michael "Big Mike" Lynche didn't get the big boot on "American Idol." The bulky 26-year-old personal trainer and father from the Astoria neighborhood of Queens, N.Y., was saved by the judges on the ninth season of the Fox singing competition Wednesday.

Lynche was mostly praised for his soulful take on "Eleanor Rigby" during Tuesday's Beatles-themed performance show but still received the fewest viewer votes. He was rescued by the show's panel at the last minute.

Simon Cowell told Lynche that the judges "decided we're going to see you next week."
