Detectives probe Brazoria County inmate's death

HOUSTON Jesse Woodard died Sunday night, hours after he was incarcerated for probation violation, according to a Brazoria County Sheriff's Office statement.

Woodard was inside his jail cell when he suffered his first seizure, according to the statement. He was moved to the jail's infirmary, where he continued to experience more seizures and went into full cardiac arrest.

The medical staff at the infirmary performed CPR while an ambulance was being dispatched to the jail, according to the statement. He was transported to Angleton Danbury Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

His cause of death is pending autopsy results from the Galveston Medical Examiner's office.

An investigation is ongoing.
