Small plane crashes on upstate NY road, hurting 2

PALERMO, NY The crash was reported Sunday afternoon to police in Oswego County, on the southeastern shore of Lake Ontario.

One of the injured women has been taken by helicopter to a hospital in nearby Syracuse. The other has been taken by ambulance.

The Piper Cherokee plane was attempting to land on County Route 45 in Palermo, a town of about 4,000 residents.

Police say they don't know why the plane was trying to land on the road.
