Police in League City say a woman attacked an officer with a monkey wrench. Police say Wendy Owen fled from an officer last Friday, saying she didn't believe he was a policeman when he tried to pull her over. The officer followed Owen to her apartment where she initially ran away, then ran over to the officer's car and allegedly took off the antenna.

Police say while the officer was trying to control her, Owen grabbed a monkey wrench and hit the police car's window and the officer. She reportedly tried to grab his gun before she was finally restrained in handcuffs.

The officer suffered cuts on his head and his elbow. The police report doesn't mention if Owen appeared to be intoxicated or otherwise impaired. Owen is charged with assault on a public officer.
