Pasadena police are investigating after a woman was found dead in her home, but they're not sure yet what happened to her. Yesterday at about 4:30pm, Pasadena police got a call regarding a "concern for welfare" from a neighbor of a woman residing alone on Burke Road. Ordinarily, the woman had been seen on a daily basis by neighbors, but reportedly had not been seen the day of the call.

Officers checked the exterior of the woman's home and discovered that the garage door had been left unlocked. They entered the house and found the woman's body on the floor of a hallway.

The victim, later identified as Nguyen Peer, 76, had sustained some visible injuries. However, the nature and extent were not clearly apparent. The Harris County Medical Examiner will make that determination and is expected to determine the cause of death following an autopsy.

Police say some items in the home had been left in a state of unusual disarray, indicating the possibility of foul play. A police investigation is in progress.
