Suspect in intoxication manslaughter case goes before judge

HOUSTON Jose Rios-Posadas went before a judge on two counts of intoxication manslaughter. Harris County prosecutor told us police believe Rios-Posadas drank a lot of beer with relatives. The prosecutor added that he got into a fight with his family then took off in his pickup truck and crashed into a Ford Explorer, killing a man and woman in the SUV.

"It's alleged that he consumed a number of beers," said Harris County Assistant District Attorney Samantha Knecht. "We think it's somewhere around 18. We don't know that for sure. There was some altercation about the amount of beer and whether or not he should have been driving that night."

Rios-Posadas did not get hurt and officers arrested him at the crash scene. Police say breath tests show he had a blood alcohol level of .19, more than twice the legal limit.
