Firefighters rescue driver from bayou

Fast-acting firefighters rescued a man overnight after his SUV crashed into White Oak Bayou in north Houston.

Fast-acting firefighters rescued a man overnight after his SUV crashed into White Oak Bayou in north Houston. It happened around 3am Saturday morning. The man was driving on Cavalcade when a second driver ran a red light. The SUV went into the water and turned upside down. The driver was trapped inside the vehicle under water.

Houston firefighters went into the water with ropes and life vests, and they opened the door of the vehicle and were able to get the man out alive.

The second driver in the accident went to the hospital with minor injuries.
