Closed portions of 610 to reopen Monday morning

HOUSTON The first closure is on 610 eastbound at the Eastex Freeway. The main lanes shut down Friday night at 9pm and will remain closed at Highway 59, including the 59 ramp to 610 East, until 8am Saturday.

To avoid, drivers should detour to 59 south to I-10 east, and then to to 610. Drivers on Highway 59 northbound to 610 eastbound will detour to 610 west to the Irvington/Fulton exit, U-turn to 610 east to US 59 south, then to I-10 east and back to 610.

The second closure involves 610 heading north and westbound from the East Freeway to the Eastex Freeway. That construction began Saturday morning at 1am and lasts until 5am Monday. Crews will close all 610 northbound main lanes from I-10 East to the Eastex Freeway, including the ramps from I-10 west and east to 610 north

Drivers on 610 northbound or the I-10 westbound ramp to 610 northbound will detour to I-10 westbound to 59 northbound to 610. Motorists traveling on I-10 eastbound to 610 northbound will detour to 610 southbound to the Turning Basin exit, U-turn to 610 northbound to I-10 westbound to Highway 59 northbound to 610, or continue east on I-10 to the Mercury exit, U-turn to I-10 westbound to 59 northbound to 610.

After the weekend work is complete, motorists will be driving on new concrete from I-10 to Highway 59.
