A mid-morning police chase all started because an officer allegedly saw a man hitting a woman in his car. According to Houston Police, around 10:30am, an officer spotted the driver of a Camry hitting his passenger on the Eastex Freeway. He pulled the driver over briefly, but then the suspect fled.

The pursuit lasted about 20 minutes before the driver bailed out of the car on Crosswind near Aldine Bender in northeast Houston. The suspect was tracked down by a police dog.

Police say the woman had placed a restraining order against the man the day before. He allegedly grabbed her this morning and threw her in the car, then started hitting her.

The man had outstanding warrants and is now expected to be charged with felony evading arrest. His name has not been released.
