Three people killed in shootout

HOUSTON It happened around 9:45pm Sunday at The Crossing at Fairmeadow apartments on West Airport at Fairmeadow. When officers arrived, they found three men who had been shot. Two died at the scene and one was transported to Ben Taub Hospital, where he later died.

According to detectives, one of the deceased men jumped another man as he was getting out of his car and held him at gunpoint as the two headed for an apartment where the visitor planned to meet a friend. Once inside, police say the suspect robbed both the man and the resident of drugs and money. That's when shots were exchanged. The resident eventually got a gun and shot the suspect.

"He also fired wildly inside the apartment, striking a white male as well. That white male was transported to Ben Taub, where he is also dead," said Sgt. Brian Harris with the Houston Police Homicide Division. "The motive behind this looks to be some kind of drug rip-off."

There were two women inside that apartment, as well, but fortunately they were not hurt.
