A suspect who allegedly tried to break in to a bait car led police on a wild chase on the Gulf Freeway and South Loop Tuesday afternoon, with speeds reaching 100 miles per hour, authorities say. Webster police say they were investigating a series of vehicle burglaries, and were using a bait car. Shortly after noon, they say a suspect broke into the bait car, and when police tried to arrest him, ran to his car and fled.

The suspect led police on a high-speed chase down the Gulf Freeway and onto the South Loop before losing control on the Highway 225 exit ramp. Police say he tried to take off on foot, but was captured 15 to 20 minutes later.
