Smith was sentenced to life in prison for leaving 3-year-old Michael and 14-month-old Alex strapped in their car seats as she rolled her car into a lake. She initially claimed a black man carjacked her and drove off with the children.
SC judge rejecting Susan Smith's appeal
COLUMBIA, SC
Smith filed a handwritten appeal earlier this year saying she
should get a new trial in part because she suffered abuse from her
now ex-husband, David Smith. He hasn't returned several messages,
but one of the prosecutors who tried Susan Smith said their
investigation showed no signs of any abuse by him.
