Reward offered to find suspect in kidnapping, assault

HOUSTON In early January, South Houston Police say Samuel DeLeon, Jr., was arrested and charged with assaulting his ex-girlfriend, who is the mother of his children. Then after his release on January 27, a protection order was issued, mandating that DeLeon have no contact with his ex.

But on February 20, investigators say the victim and DeLeon's mother, Dora Perez, had arranged to meet in the parking lot of a South Houston Fiesta grocery store about the couple's children. When the victim approached Perez's SUV, police say DeLeon jumped out of the back seat, grabbed the victim, assaulted her and forced her into the vehicle, which was driven by Perez.

Investigators say Perez dropped DeLeon and the victim off in the 2300 block of Cherryhurst in Pasadena. After several hours, police the victim was able to escape.

South Houston police officers were able to find and arrest Perez, who's been charged with aggravated kidnapping. DeLeon, who remains on the loose, was charged with aggravated kidnapping, as well as violation of a protective order, and his bond has been revoked on his prior assault charge.

Deleon is still believed to be in the Houston area and may be using the name Edward Gonzales.

Deleon is a 21-year-old Hispanic male with short dark hair and brown eyes. He is 5'6" and weighs 160 pounds with a tattoo on his right foreman.
